Most of the mods I've played and it seems true in this module too, the best way of making money has always been raiding. You can't do both at once.Ĭlearly i'm doing something wrong then, how "good" do relations need to be?Īs for the whole ruling thing. Or, you can swim in gold and inspire elite cutthroats with the promise of plunder. You can have 90+ relations with both religions, and be loved by most lords and all commoners. If you want to unite the map under your rule, you should really worry about how you are perceived. I enjoyed them both, but they have very, very little in common. Sure they slaughter anyone, but so do my Tier IV, and they have not 1000 coins sunk into each.Īs for raiding, don t you think that it is not quite compatible with ruling wisely over a peaceful kingdom? I have played a kind, benevolent lord, and I have played a ruthless raider. Tier V are nice, but I have about 300 stashed, and even at 1/4 wages, I wonder whether I should not just disband them. #Danish longphort tips upgradePersonally, I am not sure how wise it is to upgrade them, though. When your spear and shield wall holds and your swordsmen strike the engaged enemy in the back, you will see your troops level quite fast. They are good enough to hold a shieldwall against anyone and anything. Good relations with cities will allow you to recruit Tier III swordsmen and spearmen. At least in native and most mods you only lost honour if you were acting on your own. If you could recruit masses of troops easily it would be a different story, but with the new restrictions on recruitment (Having to get permission from lords or elders) Its a pain, not only that, but it seems like even with a town that I have OK relations with (10 or more) I still usually only get 2-3 recruits, which is basically nothing with the norse culture, considering theres a total of like 8 cities / castles to recruit from.Īlso, as far as reputation and such goes, my first playthrough was spent instead of trading, sacking monastaries, i found it fun, and rewarding, problem is I ended up at war with half the map, and with virtually every settlement and village on the map at -30+ relation.Īlso, for a game thats supposed to be about vikings and raiding, the fact that most of the companions get mad at it, and the fact that you lose tons of reputation (even when at war as a vassal or as a merc for a faction) is insane. I for the life of me can't see how you're supposed to start a kingdom as it is right now. And with the lower tiers its just about impossible to take on the AI lords with 400 some units, 100 of which or more are top tier.Ĭurrently in my game im about 130 days in, have about 50 units, most of which are mercs, I have a Busse, and about 20k surplus cash, 2 enterprises, a fully upgraded refuge. I know they intended this, but am I missing something? I have yet to get a top tier unit.
